Yes, that is the decision today…Do I go to the studio or do I tap our trees???

Am I too late or will I actually get 4 ounces of maple syrup this year? I must say, it is a wonderful thing,maple syrup..and so Canadian. I love being Canadian.I love having 4 seasons and doing special activities to mark each season.You know, like Maple Syrup in the spring and waiting for the crocuses to pop up. Watching the garden and water skiing in the summer. Making the tomatoes for sauce in sept and then talking about the leaves all fall. Skiing and snowmobiling and walking in the snow and going through the forest and loving the quietness, in the winter….

But where does this leave me?? I still haven’t decided what I’m doing when I get up from here!!!!!

I had the opportunity of attending  a yoga class at Golden Bridge and Laughing Lotus yoga studios in NY this mon. and tues.

Here’s what I liked the best….both instructors were funny!!hahahah

They both made jokes during the class and had no problem keeping the 1 hour and 1 1;2 hour classes light while remaining intense and true to the values of their branch of Yoga.

Which leads me to believe…….Laughter is truly the best mediciine!!!hahahahah

I’ve noticed that I”m not interested in anything I have to say lately in the philosophical realm…..Like all the music , yoga,jazz, training,voice mindset,

arranging,chords …blah blah blah….STUFF…It’s all just stuff.

I”m  so out of “the stuff”…Not sure if I’m “done” with it but so not interested in “waxing poetic” about life and “IMPORTANT” issues….

just BE, laugh, go easy , do,have fun,raise your kids, make music,eat…and like dat!!! No biggy!

yay…so slowly getting callouses…SSLLLLOOOOWWWLLLYY!!!ahhaha

So I decided I had to get at least 10 guitar chords together so that I could write more than 3 chord songs on the guitar. I really love writing with the guitar because it changes my focus. I’m limited and that makes the songs different. But I”m getting tired of A D and E7..and maybe the odd C F and G!!!

My hands are killing me. Especially my left wrist , not to mention my fingers….Do love the feeling though!!!! Pain , if nothing else reminds you that you’ve changed a bit!!

Had a wonderful 2 days in the big apple this week.Here’s my big news…of course many may know this already…but The Staton Island Ferry is free!!!!

Yay, it’s a lovely boat ride and even offers a beautiful view of the Statue of Liberty!!!How fun is that??

Love walking down to Soho and the village, especially when the sun is shining! Burger at The Burger Joint, behind the curtain at the Meridian Hotel ..then a show.This time, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.It was wonderful,colorful ,playful and charming. Next day lingering over a long 2 or 3 cups of coffee,visiting with the girls, who consist of my sister-in-law Joanne Mele and my friend (who came in from Connecticut for a 2 hour visit)  Arlene Sparaco. Saks 8th floor to “shoe heaven” or is it really “girls who like shoes heaven”?Then a nice long walk through the park and up to visit all my friends…Rodin, Manet,Monet,Van Gough, Sauret,Turner,Rembrandt,Michaelangelo,and all kinds of other buddies. I could stay there for ever….at peace.

Great show and dinner at Dizzy’s .Ann Hampton Calloway and her trio.Love her!

Glorious 2 days .Much more mortor  in the gaps but I won’t go into detail. Suffice to say….wine,chocolate,conversation…all essential in NY!!

It’s so much fun!! That stride bass is a (#@!*#$#@^$&%^*#&!@#$  though!!

I think the problem is that my hands are too small. Rachmaninoff hands would be nice. I’m feeling like you have to  move quickly and lift but then stay low an relaxed at the same time.A bit of a challenge.

I keep picturing Scott Joplin in a hot sweaty saloon with everyone laughing and having a good time. Imagine if Bach and Beethoven walked in?? Bach would start playing his Fugue 1 in 5 parts and Beethoven would break into his Waldstein Sonata…then Oscar and Bill would start playing and Chick and Herbie would hear them and come in and maybe Keith too…..Imagine that? If they could be together? Who else would come?It’s a lovely thought to ponder…

a bit easier last night though the sharp pain in my arm came faster…but after playing through it , it seemed to go away..

moving forward….all good…good brain exercise too …
